Message from the South

Brothers,

Once again another month has raced by. And with each passing month the fellowship among the Brothers of Coastside seems to grow stronger and everlasting.

I feel compelled to write about our relationship. Whether we realize it or not, we participate in all sorts of relationships. With the people we work with, socialize with and with those special in our lives. How we manage these relationships is up to us.

They define us as human begins. They are how we are judged.

So that brings me to members of our fraternal organizations. I hope we all realize that the way we are not only reflects upon you, but on all things associated with you; which includes Coastside Lodge. Its my hope that you have chosen to a spark that makes our organization grow and thought of in the best of terms.

Remember that a kind word, gesture or a mere smile cost you nothing, but the rewards can be spectacular for all of us!

Brothers,

I’d like take this opportunity to thank the Coastside Lodge officers and brethren for their assistance in helping me meet the requirements of my position as Junior Warden, The patience, encouragements and constructive counsel from the Worshipful Master, the Past master and Senior Deacon have helped me evolve as a Master Mason. Of course none of this would not have happened without the active participation of the rest of the officers and brethren who consistently participate to the best of their abilities.

It takes a concerted effort by all brothers to pave a smooth path into the East. Its extremely good to see the active participation of the newly raised brethren not only attend meetings but for raising to the occasion when called to fill ritual positions as needed.

The next couple of months, we will be raising a few new Master Masons and we’ll need every ones help.

Brothers,

I want to thank all the brethren who attended last month’s stated meeting. As I have stated before the strength of any society is harmony and support and especially of ours.

Harmony is defined as having agreement of sentiments or interests which lead to peace and friendship. While support is defined as upholding, speak for or encourage another. These are two key values of Masonic Society. May we all continue to support and foster harmony within ourselves and throughout the Lodge.

By the time my message is in print, we will have launched two new brother EAs on their Masonic journey. Congratulations to them on their introduction into Masonry and this Lodge. May their achievements shine as brightly as those who have gone before them.

In the coming months let us remember to help those less fortunate and help those in need of assistance. At the very least give a smile to someone, it’s a gift that costs you nothing and yet it is priceless to those who receive it.

Brothers,

I am happy to report that our lodge just gets better and better every day. April was an incredible month! We had several new brothers initiated into the Lodge and help them begin their personal Masonic journey.

I am dedicated to seeing more of our Brethren come to Lodge and to all of the Masonic events being planned.  Many of you have far more years in Masonry than I do, and I respect as well as admire your knowledge of our Fraternity.  Imagine what we could accomplish by working together!

With that in mind, I encourage you to come back to Lodge, so we can all be better men and Masons as we move forward into the future.
The officers of the lodge are exploring various possibilities for a special celebrations such as “Welcome Home”, and would love your input. We need your ideas and suggestions; let’s work together to make it an event to remember!

A Message From The South (April 2011)

Brethren,

"The secret of Masonry, like the secret of life, can be known only by those who seek it, serve it, live it. It cannot be uttered; it can only be felt and acted. It is, in fact, an open secret,
and each man knows it according to his quest and capacity. Like all things worth knowing, no one can know it for another and no man can know it alone."

So the question becomes for us as Brothers how do we do this together?

By attending Lodge and participating in our varied activities is a great way of making the journey that we have obligated ourselves to take.
During the coming months the Lodge will be hosting a number of special events. I hope you will help in the planning and make time to participate.

Looking forward to traveling together.

Fraternally,
David Bobrick

Brethren,
We have all discovered that Freemasonry is a unique organization, unlike any other. It offers experiences not found anywhere else.

We are ordinary men found everywhere in the community: doctors, lawyers, laborers, council workers, chefs, tattoo artisans, computer tech, etc. We come from all backgrounds and religions but we share a common concern for human values, moral standards and individual rights.

Our Fraternity offers insight and knowledge of history and philosophy=, ritual and symbolism, personal growth, public service and charitable activities.

One of the greatest things about Freemasonry is that we come together as equals and share a common bond of friendship as Freemasons. We refer to the phrase “meeting on the level and departing on the square”, which means that we meet as equals and part as friends.

David Bobrick

Charity is a subject inherent to Freemasonry. It is not, our primary reason for existing as a Lodge or as individual Ma-sons, but is a significant element of our fraternity.

Charity ought to come to us as naturally as breathing. It is not meant to be turned into an event, a production, or the means by which we justify ourselves to the public.

While charitable efforts ought to come from the heart, there is no rule that says it must only be in monetary form. Often donating of time and labor will mean more to the recipient. If any brother has a local charita-ble event in which he is in- volved, and for which help is needed, bring it up during our stated meetings. That is how Masonic charity ought to work.

It is recommended, that we all read the Grand Lodge’s thoughts on Masonic charity.
