From The East (June 2012)

Greetings Brothers,

Hope my message finds you and yours in good spirit.

Our Lodge will soon be going dark for the summer, and during this time I am planning on trying to recharge and regroup as well as preparing for the eventual hand off to the incoming Master for 2013.

This will also be time to reflect upon the accomplishments of the past few months. We have raised a few brothers and initiated a few others. As always the degree work makes me personally happy that we have secured the continued legacy of Coastside Lodge.

This year we have also, with Bro Roque’s leadership published our first issue of our Lodge History.(Copies are available at the Lodge)

Its hard to believe that we have already reached the middle of the calendar year and I am looking forward to working with all of you in finishing the remainder of the year on a positive and fruitful note.

Message From The East (May 2012)

Greetings from the East and along with it I send my brotherly love and friendship.

Time slips away; the calendar indicates it’s May already, time goes by so quickly. It has been roughly 18 months that I have been the Master of Coastside Lodge, the Lodge that my Father once served as Master, 1968. It seems like I have been a part of Coastside Lodge for most of my life.

Anyway, we are having another good year at our Lodge. We have initiated several new Brothers during my time as Master. This has been very rewarding seeing new brothers enter our Lodge and I hope that they will continue seeking more Light in Masonry.

In this issue of the Trestleboard, we have several key notices from the Grand Lodge. Please take note of them.

Look forward to seeing at Lodge!

From The East (April 2012)

Brothers,

The Lodge has been busy again this past month, with an initiation, second degree and the raising of Brother Stephen J. Lee. And the next couple of months appear to be as busy. This has been a good era for the Lodge and our prospects look very good. It’s my hope that over the next few years Coastside will see its line without requiring a Past Master helping out. That’s very exciting.

As you will see from the Trestleboard we have a very busy spring in front of us, and there are a few things happening that I would like to Highlight. On the 5th of April we have the District Inspectors official visit and then during the month we may see a couple of 3rd degrees and possibly two second degrees.

I hope that those of you who haven’t been to the Lodge for awhile will make and extra effort to join us at our Stated Meeting and help us welcome the Inspector, as an official representative of the Grand Master.

From The East (March 2012)

Brothers,

In the past two months we have raised and initiated several brothers. I wish to thank all of you for your participation in all of the rehearsals and practices.  We are making progress in assuring that Coastside Lodge continues with great success.  As pointed out at our last special meeting that most of the Master Masons seating in positions in the line of Lodge are those with less than five years (which is a great asset for the Lodge).

In addition we want all of our members to participate in our progress, so in the month of April we would like to declare, besides public schools month, we are hosting a “Rusty Trowel” event were we wish to host and welcome brothers to a special meal.

From The East (February 2012)

Brothers,

The new year brings new energy and new changes.

For example, please take a look at the announcements shown on page 5.

Coastside is now a part of 325th Masonic District and our Inspector is Worshipful Master Tony G. Cimarra.

We all look forward to meeting our New Inspector and working with him during his assignment duration as Inspector.

The 325th district is comprised of Francis Drake No. 376 and Crocker Lodge No. 212.

I also want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to Worshipful Master Thomas Chavez who served as our Inspector for the past couple of years. We wish him well on his new assignment.

His contact information is shown on the Officers Listing on page 3.

From The East (January 2012)

Brothers,

Happy New Year! And with it a new sense of purpose.

I wish to thank each of the brethren for the vote of confidence in reelecting me as the Worshipful Master.

Also I would like ask each of you to congratulate my appointment to the line of officers, Michael Perry and Allan Young. As I mentioned to the both of them, I am not appointing Sentinel; I am looking for a future Worshipful Master of our Lodge.

Next, I want each member to help me in continuing to grow our Lodge both in bringing in new members and increase attendance at our stated meetings.

With this in mind we will establish a “Rusty Trowel” event in April. We need to get as many of our legacy Master masons attend this special social event. Look for more details.

From The East (December 2011)

Brothers,

My first year as Master of the Lodge now comes to close. I wish to thank all the Brothers of Coastside Lodge for the help and support.

One of my joys for this year has been our continued growth as a Lodge.

With a few new members and raised Masons we will continue to see our part of the continued legacy of Free and Accepted Masons continue to thrive.

Once again the new year brings new hope and challenges. I look forward to 2012 as another year of hope and growth for our Coastside Lodge.

Coastside has a number of members who were raised here and have moved out of the area. Some as far as the East Coast. Yet it’s my hope that the Brothers who have been away for a while will find an opportunity to visit us soon or at the very least write us a letter letting us know you’re doing well. Please let us know.

Message From The East (November 2011)

Brothers,

As we come to the beginning of the holiday season and the eventual end of the present year, I would like to give thanks to those who have made my time this year as Master easier.

I would like to thank Brothers Schirmer, Bobrick and Lundling for their dedication to putting on the degrees.

Thanks to Brother Schirmer for an exemplary job in preparing the new officers in their degree work.

Also Brother Lundling has done a very good job in getting all the candidates prepared to deliver their proficiencies.

While Brother Bobrick has prepared himself throughout the year to deliver the degree ceremonies.

Finally, our 2012 installation will be a closed event and is scheduled for Thursday December 15. We’ll have a light meal and then the installation will follow. Guests are invited to the meal, but the lodge room will be closed .

From The East (October 2011)

Brothers,

I hope my messages finds each of you and your families in good spirits and health. Well, here it is October already. Wow, how time flies by. Truly time waits for no one. The holiday season will soon be upon us and I for one look forward to them.

At the Lodge we planning to raise two more Brothers before the end of the year.  And our officers will be working in advance stations in preparation for the new year.

I welcome change. Change is something we should embrace.  But we should also remember that we are carrying on the legacy of all those who have gone this way before.

If you haven’t been out to one of our meetings lately, please come on out and enjoy the brotherly love of the Lodge .

Most of you now know that our 2012 installation will be a closed event and is scheduled for Thursday December 15.

From The East (September 2011)

Brothers,

We’ve recently been busy with degree work. And I know that everyone has been involved in being ready. And Yes, this is always good, because it means we continue to grow.

For those newly raised and initiated brothers I pose the question, “What next?”.

The degree is the easy part, we come, we say the words, we eat and then we leave.

Brethren, your proficiency is part of the personal journey, which each takes on his own, when he is ready. Your proficiency is your Masonic journey. It does not have an immediate payout, but should be seen as an investment in your future So when you see the “Light” you’re prepared to transform into a better man.

It is not within the purview of any other brother, or I to decide when and how you do your proficiency. This is your personal journey. My advice is seize the moment and become a traveler.
