Lodge Planning meeting

From The East (March 2012)

Brothers,

In the past two months we have raised and initiated several brothers. I wish to thank all of you for your participation in all of the rehearsals and practices.  We are making progress in assuring that Coastside Lodge continues with great success.  As pointed out at our last special meeting that most of the Master Masons seating in positions in the line of Lodge are those with less than five years (which is a great asset for the Lodge).

In addition we want all of our members to participate in our progress, so in the month of April we would like to declare, besides public schools month, we are hosting a “Rusty Trowel” event were we wish to host and welcome brothers to a special meal.

Secretary’s Message (March 2012)

Secretary’s Message

Greetings my Brother!

2012 Lodge dues are now pass due. If you have not sent in your dues as yet, please do so as soon as you can. If we do not receive your dues by as of March 12th then we will submit a request for suspension of membership to the Grand Lodge and your membership will be suspended.

If there is a mitigating situation that the Lodge may be able to help you with, please do not hesitate to contact us. All suspension of memberships will be reviewed by the Master and the pillars of the Lodge. Its our hope to have all our Lodge brothers remain intact.

Our membership retention committee will be calling you as a follow up.

By the way, thank you to all those who have already sent in your dues.

Recently several Brothers have asked about making donations either to the Lodge or the Masonic Homes. If you plan to make a donation make sure you indicate on your dues envelope were you would like your donation to be set aside for by the Lodge.

Be sure to check the upcoming events calendar on the front of the Trestleboard; there are a number of special events coming up this month, and we’d love to see you at Lodge.

Brethren, the 2012 Lodge Roster is now available. They can be picked up at the lodge at the stated meeting. If you would like to request that one be mailed to you, please call me.

In putting together our Roster, I noted that some pertinent information such as names of significant others, birthdates, etc. were missing. Also we know that we are missing a few current phone numbers. Please help us keep everything up to date by sending me your current contact information.

Remember that in addition to our website and Facebook pages, our monthly Trestleboard is also available via e-mail.

If you line will save the Lodge roughly $8 per year per member.

If would like to receive the Trestleboard electronically, please send me your e-mail address at: glopez@netwiz.net

I’ll be happy to add you to our growing cyberspace list. Getting the Trestleboard on-Brothers, your lodge needs all of you to come out and share your knowledge with us in order to make Coastside Lodge the best that it can be.

Fraternally yours,
Adolph Gus “Gomez” Lopez

From The South (March 2012)

Brothers,

During the next month we will be preparing to help new brothers with seeing the light by which Masons work.

I’d like to suggest that we establish a Layman’s night this year. Its important for us to bring in new candidates and improve our relationship with existing brothers.

The grand lodge has materials that we can use to tell our fraternal story to the public.

In April we will be conducting our Publics School out reach. Once again the lodge will be presenting much needed funds to a deserving local school.

In addition to the scholarship from the lodge. I’d like to suggest that we each make a donation to the Grand Masters program—”Raise A Reader”.

So in April we will be asking Brothers to make a reasonable donation to this special Masonic out reach program.

From The West (March 2012)

Brethren of Coastside Lodge,

Recently we raised, Karl E. Kirbus.

All those who participated in the ceremony did a very good job and I believe that Brother Kirbus was greatly appreciative of the honor bestowed upon him.

Also, we recently initiated a couple of brothers and we are looking forward to helping with their journey to discover the light.

Prior masters have established foundations and made available many tools and programs for us to prosper. Now its our turn to put programs and strategies in place to support the ever evolving process of progress for our Lodge.

Therefore for the next couple of months I’ll be seeking advice as to what you would like us to maintain and increase the strength of the Lodge. Should we rely on more technology, improve our interpersonal opportunities and/or seek outside assistance? I would like to announce my schedule for the 2013 (6013) year by October. So, let me know what you would like to do.

The Rusty Trowel (Saturday, April 7, 2012)

Coastside Lodge wishes to institute a short program to honor, refresh memories and welcome all Master Masons living in the Pacifica area to our Lodge.

We have a prepared program which will include a special pin, a packet of information which contains a petition and other current pamphlets.

The purpose of the evening is to reestablish the Brotherhood which brought you to Masonry and assist you in being current with local Masonic information. This review should enable you to reestablish a personal connection with Masonry.

There are thousands of sojourning Masons living in our jurisdiction who are not active in Masonry. Unknown hundreds belong to lodges in other districts and jurisdictions and an equal amount of California Masons who have been displaced for one reason or another. Its been said that there are at least as many unaffiliated Masons living in our area as there are members.

We believe by bringing these sojourn brothers back into Masonic communications is important to us all. We wish to offer you and your family with that which is missing. There is no substitute for the continuing activity, friendship and sharing.

From The East (February 2012)

Brothers,

The new year brings new energy and new changes.

For example, please take a look at the announcements shown on page 5.

Coastside is now a part of 325th Masonic District and our Inspector is Worshipful Master Tony G. Cimarra.

We all look forward to meeting our New Inspector and working with him during his assignment duration as Inspector.

The 325th district is comprised of Francis Drake No. 376 and Crocker Lodge No. 212.

I also want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to Worshipful Master Thomas Chavez who served as our Inspector for the past couple of years. We wish him well on his new assignment.

His contact information is shown on the Officers Listing on page 3.

From The South (February 2012)

Brothers,

As we begin the new year, we will have several brothers to raise in the next couple of months.

This will be an exciting time for the Lodge. Newly raised brothers means that our Coastside legacy will continue. With this in mind we are very interested in starting the “Rusty Trowel” concept here at the Lodge.

The “Rusty Trowel” is our out reach program to bring local raised brothers back to the Lodge.

Upon initial research there are roughly 10 local brothers who have not been to Lodge in a couple of years. And they know who they are.

We want you to know that we care about you and would love to have you attend Lodge at least three or four times a year.

We plan to have a welcome back program in April. So for those who are local and haven’t been here in awhile, expect to receive a invitation call from the Lodge.

From The West (February 2012)

Brethren of Coastside Lodge,

This year will be exciting for me personally because its my preparation year before seating in the East.

There is so much to learn and prepare for. Therefore I will need everyone’s help in getting ready for this year and next year. So if you have any suggestions about what we might do more effectively please let me know.

In the month of February we have several events planned. We have the Sweetheart luncheon and High Tea on February 11th.

We’ll also be hosting the DSOI. All officers are strongly encouraged to attend.

And then we have several degree opportunities planned as well.

Remember all Past Masters and senior members of the Lodge, the more people we have involved the better our degrees will be and the Lodge will continue to prosper. Recall that the strength and support are key to all institutions especially ours. With that being said I wish to extend a personal invitation to come to Lodge and participate in our events and support our new slate of officers. With your physical support we will be able to create and achieve some great things for our Lodge.

Sweetheart Event (February 2012)

The Sweetheart Event is held in February each year to honor the wives and significant others of Coastside Masons.

The symbols shown to the left signify our desire to honor the widows and our oath to aid and assist them. The symbol is the broken column.

In addition the For-Get-Me-Not flower is being adopted as the constant reminder that our journey to gain more light is supported by our significant others. And if it was not for their emotional support our journey would be ineffective and non-important.

Our Masonic oath calls for us to aid and support orphans, widows and all women.

This year the planning committee will be hosting Coastside Lodges version of “High Tea”.

High Tea begins at 3PM.
